2/11/10 Snow
Report:
We've have had a quite a
few nice sunny days this past week. It's
been snowing lightly most of the day today
and has acumulated about another 6 inches on
top of the 3 inches that fell yesterday. The
heavy snow we had last week has now settled
down and become a very good base of
aproxamatly 4 to 5 feet. Areas that recived
heavy traffic over this past week are hard
pack (ice) under the 9 inches of fresh.
It has been great for
snowshoers and cross country skiers. We have
a full house this weekend with most every
cabin rented. We are expecting about another
3 to 6 inches of snow fall tonight. The
groomed trail around Columbine property has
been well groomed and is packed down and
ready for action.
1/24/10 Snow
Report:
Wow! We really got the
powder dumped on us last night. Looks like
about 16-20 inches here in Columbine. Talked
with some snowmoblers this afternoon that
were up on the summet. They said there was
around 4 feet of fresh light powder and they
got stuck several times because the snow was
so deep, light and powdery.
Its still falling pretty
good right now, as it has all day, but it is
expected to begin tapering off later tonight
and clear up for a few days. Current daytime
temps 17-22 degrees. Overnight temps 10-14
degrees.
Not many skiers or
snowshoers so come on up and have the whole
place to your selves.

1/23/10 Snow
Report:
Over the past
few days and snow has returned after quite a
dry spell. Over night we received 8-10
inches of light powdery snow. There is
currently a hard packed base of
approximately 4 to 5 feet. Avalanche danger
is currently high in many areas on Hahn's
Peak and
Iron
Mountain.
Please respect
no trespassing signs in the Hahn's Peak area
and stay our of danger areas. One such area
is on the east side of the mountain just
above the tree line.
More snow is
expected tonight, 6 to 12 inches. The road
to Columbine from Steamboat Springs is
plowed regularly. Current conditions are;
patched of packed snow and ice from
Steamboat Springs to Hahn's Peak, and packed
snow from Hahn's Peak to the resort.

12/13/09 Snow Report:
Lots and lots of fresh snow. Columbine received nearly two feet
overnight last night and the white stuff
continued to fall and blow throughout the
day today. Not the best conditions for
trekking the trails with blowing snow and
near white-out conditions.
More snow, 12 to 18 inches is expected over night tonight and
tomorrow. Then we are going to get a break
and some partly clear skies’ and sun on
Tuesday and Wednesday.
Road crews have not plowed the main road (129) today and we have
received reports that there are some very
poor road conditions between Hahn’s Peak and
Columbine with some large drifts covering
the road in areas. Road crews are secluded
to plow the main road tomorrow
12/14/09.

12/6/09 Snow Report:
Temps are cold; lows have been
-7 to -10 F for the
past few nights. Day time highs have been 15
to 25 F. We received 5 to 6 inches of light
powdery snow last night adding to the 6 to
10 inch base that we have had on the ground
for the past two weeks. Photo below taken on
12/6/09.

I snow shoed
to the top of
Iron
Mountain
with some guests on 11/30/09.
There was about one and-one-half-feet of
snow at the top and from 6 to 12 inches
along the trail to the summit. Other guests
have recently informed me that conditions on
the route to Hahn's Peak are similar,
although, blowing snow drifts on the north
approach to the summit can be a bit
troublesome.
Looks like another storm is moving
in tonight and we are expecting another 6
inches or more of snow out of this one.
