Columbine Historic District has been listed on the National Historic Register.

Nestled at the base of Hahns Peak in northern Colorado, historic Columbine Cabins is convenient to the Routt National Forest, Steamboat Lake, Pearl Lake, Hahns Peak Lake and the Mt. Zirkel Wilderness. Visitors enjoy fishing, hiking, cross country skiing, hunting, or just sitting on the porch watching hummingbirds. Our cozy cabins and peaceful setting invite relaxation. Consider vacationing with your dogs; they're welcome at Columbine, too. You can hike or ski from your door. We're open summer, fall, and winter; so come on up and get out of town.

Columbine is located 29 miles north of Steamboat Springs on scenic County Road 129, which is now paved and plowed to our driveway. We are within the boundaries of the Routt National Forest. Our rental cabins and other buildings are scattered among aspen trees and evergreens, with a dramatic view of Hahns Peak. Columbine Cabins contains the Columbine Historic District, which holds National Historic Register designation. Many of our buildings date from the late 1800's when Columbine was a gold mining town.

Our rental cabins feature furnished kitchens, most having hot and cold running water at the sink. They have comfortable beds with bedding provided, a dining area, and porches with seating. Most cabins have wood cookstoves with firewood provided, as well as backup electric heat. Bathroom facilities in the cabins vary; some cabins have toilets and a few even have showers or tubs. See the individual cabin descriptions for specifics.

A centrally located lodge provides clean, modern bathrooms with showers. Upstairs in the lodge is a common room with pool table, couches, books and puzzles, along with a spectacular view. A woodfired steam sauna, picnic tables, and a community fire ring are available for guest use.

The new kitchen building provides a commercial kitchen and outdoor grill that is available to rent for groups. An adjacent tent pad provides space for a tent (guest would provide tent) to accommodate outdoor group dining. You may cook yourself, hire a chef, or use a caterer - the choice is yours.

The General Store, where stagecoaches stopped and miners bought supplies, welcomes you as you arrive at Columbine's entry. The store now houses our office and mercantile. No TV or Phone in rooms. No cell phone service yet. Travel back in time and leave your watch behind.
